About us
The Greek School of Bishop’s Stortford is the result of an initiative of members of the Greek Community of Bishop’s Stortford and surrounding areas, parents and non-parents with a Greek / Cypriot background and most importantly with the desire to keep the Greek language and traditions alive, for us, our children and the generations to come!
Our small Greek school was established in October 2012 and it currently operates within the premises of Manor Fields Primary School, in the mobile classrooms (Penningtons, Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire CM23 4LE). The mobile classrooms can be accessed from the gate into the playground and there is ample parking.
Lessons are on Saturdays, term time only, they are differentiated according to age and ability and are delivered by qualified teachers. The main teachers work in maintained schools, are CRB checked and are first aid trained. Children are introduced to the Greek Alphabet and the written language as well as to basic spelling and grammar rules! Our primary focus though is the speaking and listening aspect of the language, to introduce and reinforce the Greek language in a fun way and equip the children with the necessary vocabulary to communicate in Greek!
Last but definitely not least, a big thank you to the BEST TEACHING TEAM: Sotiris, Emma, Nina, Kostas and Panos! What makes our Greek school successful, the reason the children come to us with a big smile on their faces, is because of the teachers and volunteers who work at this school!
